Due to their thin, lightweight & robust characteristics, our EL lightsheets are perfect for astrophotography.

It is almost essential in digital astrophotography to use flat field frames. A flat field frame is an image of an evenly illuminated source. In the past these frames or 'light boxes' have been bulky and fragile often containing several light sources and various methods of diffusing the light to produce even illumination. That is until now! Our flexible electroluminescent panel has enabled the construction of a much simpler, compact and portable system.

To use, the telescope is pointed vertically upwards, then the panel laid on top of the dew shield/telescope tube, and the necessary flats obtained. This photo shows the smaller panel on my 80 mm refractor. When not in use, of course the panels take up very little space. The power units ('inverters') run off the mains, but 12 volt powered inverters are also available.
